The local industrial towns (in wales where I’m from) have the occasional mine shaft open and so on, and can see that some streets have dips in them as they have settled as the mining wasn’t regulated or recorded. Plus stuff like my folks water supply comes 20 miles away from some higher hills, the last few miles, had a leak for last few years, so the water company has been doing exploratory digging to try to find the pipe as no records, they did find it after a few years… Roger Merriman
