When my sister died thirty years ago, she was alone at home. It was only when she missed a doctor's appointment he came looking and then called the police. (She'd caught hepatitis on holiday the previous year and had had a relapse.) When I collapsed at home in 2021, I was able to text my sister. Apparently she then phoned me at the hospital and therefore knew where I was, but I have no memory of this at all. But no-one in fandom knew where I was and eventually someone contacted the other fan they knew in Guildford who came round looking for me and met my neighbour who hadn't seen me, so she phoned the police and found out where I was and phoned me in hospital.
