Emacs was originally written by Dr. Richard M. Stallman (who also
originally wrote gcc, glibc, and a LOT of other critical GNU software).

Dr. Stallman is one heck of a C programmer and also one of the great
humans of the 20th/21st centuries.

I have been wanting to learn Emacs but I don't have the time to explore
all of its possibilities. There are only 24 hours in a day and I have
plenty of other irons in the fire.

But the "all in one" philosophy of Emacs has inspired other software
such as Cooledit, which is a text editor plus email client plus debugger
plus a lot of other things.

Shoot! I could go on and on! The GNU/Linux/FOSS software ecosystem is
so rich that it makes Microslop/Apphole look like an old ladies' sewing
bee.

Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha!
