Conservatives believe in markets, and fairness, and not having any bias, and freedom and stuff, so they don't really resist anything. The problem is, once ideologies get in, they put measures in place to justify removing opposition, so quite quickly you're in a position where you cannot oppose. The solution is to remove ideologies as soon as possible, and not allow them to gain even a foot in the door.
