The German translation was titled "Viel Feind', viel Ehr'", which as those who know bits of German will recognize retains the "honor" and "enemy" parts, but means something else entirely: "Many foes, much honor". (The often quoted motto of Landsknecht leader Georg von Frundsberg.) I always thought that the background of the decaying Terran Empire very transparently alluded to the fall of Rome, but I don't know if there are more than general parallels.
