Pour un débutant : lubuntu

Sinon, debian
- avec le bureau ultra-léger LXDE, fourni avec un environnement 
restreint, juste l'essentiel, ou LXQt
- avec le bureau léger XFCE,
- sans bureau, juste un gestionnaire de fenêtres.

Quelle que soit la distribution choisie, éviter les bureaux gnome et 
KDE, trop lourds.
