Could it just >be myself in a player group? > >Maybe I should try it. Yes. When I played "Elite: Dangerous", I did so without any interactions from any other players.* For all intents and purposes, it was a single-player game for me. A single-player game that stupidly required me to be online all the time. But, like vallor suggested, unless you really know that you enjoy this genre of games, maybe do some research on it first before untying the purse strings. It doesn't have the easiest difficulty curve (I'd bet that 50% of players bail out of the experience with their first docking; it's a great newb-filter ;-), it's visuals -while pretty- aren't going to enthrall you, and the gameplay -whether combat or trading- aren't to everyone's taste. It can be an extremely _slow_ game too. Not that it can't be fun --the enduring popularity of the Elite franchise says otherwise-- but it's not a game to everyone's taste. Or mine. I didn't really have fun with the game (mostly, I played it because I'd played the earlier titles and had to see what they'd done with the franchise). Which is fine; not every game has to suit everybody's taste. But just because I don't enjoy playing it, doesn't mean it's not a good game, and I don't want you to misunderstand my praise for it as a recommendation that you rush out and buy it. It may be something you enjoy, but look into it a bit more before buying, is all I'm saying. ------- * I should note, though, that I didn't really do that deep a dive into the game. I played maybe ten or twelve hours, which -as any Elite fan will tell you- is barely scratching the surface. Still, it was enough to let me see what the game was like. But take that limited play-time into consideration when listening to my advice ;-)
