Intéressant - comme 'pimpant', alors, « Dér. du rad. pimp- exprimant la 
parure, la grâce » (TFLi).

Il y a un verbe en américain avec ce sens, 'to pimp' (une voiture etc.), 
que l'OED remonte à ~2000 (et qui s'apparente à 'pimpmobile', 1971-, 
etc.). Le nom anglais 'pimp', 'proxénète', lui, remonte à ~1600, est 
d'origine inconnue, mais je me demande s'il y a un lien entre 'to pimp' 
et 'pimper'.
