term specific to a hostile taking of ABANDONED property. None of this
property was ABANDONED.

These are criminals who broke in, then committed additional crimes by
holding themselves out to being tenants. There may be a presumption in
New York landlord-tenant law in favor of someone purporting to be a tenant,
but they are still committing a series of crimes for which they might be
arrested regardless of landlord-tenant law. Because, you know, they
aren't tenants.
