I read somewhere one of the C teachers and author said using IDE to 
learn C is wasteful because they usually have learning curves. Even the 
choice of an editor alone should be one of simplest ones, to avoid yet 
another learning curve.

It said, learn C and only then use an editor like Emacs or an IDE.
