Rest assured Apple didn't put a circa $20 chip for non-profit reasons, given Apple does nothing that doesn't eke more money out of its owners. More to the OP's point though, especially given the obvious huge privacy implications, is why do you think Apple doesn't provide UWB on/off control. Why does every phone EXCEPT Apple's iPhone provide that basic privacy?
