LILO was officially orpaned in 2020, and stopped development in 2016.

By admission of the original developer, LILO is "not the bootloader for
all situations" and "has some limitations". For the average user, LILO
would not provide any benefits and would possibly get in the way of
their migration. Thus, GRUB is installed by default, since it generally
has the best compatibility. For those who wish for simplicity, of
course, LILO provides that benefit. There is nothing wrong with using
GRUB or LILO.
