It may not be a memory leak but it's certainly a rogue program - chrome/chromium in this case, though I've had similar and worse problems with Firefox which seems to me more likely to have a genuine memory leak. However, the point of the original post was to vent a frustration about the way that Linux handles such memory deletion when it happens. -- James Harris
