Actually it can be extremely useful. Not sure if the iPhone 15, with 
USB-C can support any of the vast number of devices that Android OTG 
supports.

Of course some devices used with OTG have equivalent functionality using 
Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, but not all. Also, OTG powers the external device 
which of course isn't possible with Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.

Sometimes there are workarounds to the lack of OTG on iPhones, but they 
are cumbersome and time-consuming. For example, if you want to play a 
DVD on an Android device you plug a portable DVD drive into the tablet 
or phone and play the DVD. On iPhone or iPad, you use a computer to rip 
the DVD to a format supported by iPadOS or iOS then transfer the file to 
the phone
