One problem is, they have been only spending 2%
of their GDP on defense spending.
They recently ended their military draft.
Their economy is becoming more intertwined
with the mainland.
Many of their citizens have visited the mainland.
They seem more interested in short term quality
of life rather than the term "freedoms".
