The vast majority of the melted water shifts to the warmer center band of the planet, where closer to the sun by about 4,000 miles, it will evaporate, rise, cool, condense into clouds that will be carried by the winds back over land to the poles, dumping over oceans and land, eventually becoming snow and ice again. It's not going to flood New York City or San Francisco, although many would consider it a huge improvement for the rest of the country if it did indeed occur. You do recall there were glaciers once.
