Adobe is of course denying it ...

"Subscription services are convenient, flexible and cost
effective to allow users to choose the plan that best
fits their needs, timeline and budget. Our priority is
to always ensure our customers have a positive experience,"

In reality, 'subscription services' are a pain in the backside and
unwanted by most software users. They're nothing but a greedy cash-grab
by companies who ran into difficulty selling the latest version because
all they had really done was keep adding more useless gimmicks and
over-bloating. :-\
