Summit Street bike use increased about 75%, as I recall. Car-bike crashes increased something like ten fold. > The report is some 6 years ago... That's irrelevant. The glorious, lobbied-for, heralded bike trap made things much more dangerous for bicyclists. > I’d also note that while called a protected > cycle route it’s largely absent ie mainly paint having a google maps ride > though, and channels one into the door zone! In other words "What the lobbyists asked for and got is terrible!" Another example of those ever-shifting goal posts. The department of transportation should have ... what? Anticipated what bike segregation fans are going to be demanding 15 years from now? Maybe grade separation at every place where a car might cross the path of a bicycle? Why not just demand that all cars be flying cars? Problem solved! And barely less realistic than other segregationalist fantasies. > https://maps.app.goo.gl/mJ1MBVhhZ7363qga8?g_st=ic Your example still has crossing conflicts where cars entering or exiting side streets can hit cyclists who feel "protected," as in the Summit Street video I've posted. -- - Frank Krygowski
