You're welcome, but it seems what you wanted more than a solution was 
something to complain about...

Tap Accounts.
Tap your account.
Tap your account once more.
Tap Advanced.
Select Deleted Mailbox or Archive Mailbox to send discarded messages there.'

Was literally first hit when Googling, "no delete option when swiping
