If you copy /usr/share/slrn/macros/slrnface.sl to ~/.slrn/slrnface.sl and edit ~/.slrnrc with this line: interpret "/home/USER/.slrn/slrnface.sl" where USER it's your real username, you will see X-Faces inline if you use a desktop or window manager under X.
