[take medical advice] means (today)... get tested, get examined

in the old joke... a guy runs into a doctor at a Party,
                      describes his (health) conditions....(at length),
                       and asks the Doctor:
                                    [What should i take?]

And the doctor says: [Take (medical) advice]
