You didn't "measure" the benefits and detriments of buying a gun. You caved into your fears and told yourself "I have to have a gun to defend myself. I have to have it even when I'm pedaling on an empty bicycle path out in the sticks, or a bike path where other users are mothers pushing baby strollers. I may have to use it to save my life!" So how many times have you used it? Based on your comments here, it's been zero. So you spent the money, you lug your toy around, and you've gotten zero benefit. Well, maybe you got a tiny testosterone boost. And maybe you felt a little less afraid. You could have gotten those benefits more cheaply by buying a copy of Playboy and a teddy bear. -- - Frank Krygowski
