Well, he did play the "Casualty" role for 38 years (901 weekly episodes), since the show started in 1986, plus appearing a few times in the spin-off shows "Holby" / "Holby City" and "Holby Blue", and wasn't in much else during that time. Of course, that length of time is nearly a blink of an eye when compred to the TV record holder: William Roache has played the role of Ken Barlow in "Coronation Street" for 64 years (4783 semi-weekday episodes), since that show started in 1960. He was in the very first episode and still appears regularly. :-)
