To summarize? There are some niche products to allow cyclists (and
motorcyclists, and hikers, etc.) to carry handguns. They are certainly
not common.

There was a time when riders were sold handguns to scare away dogs. But
"wildly popular?" I'd like to see data. Riding in present day France,
and reading extensively about French cycling, I've never come across
evidence that those or any other guns are ever carried while riding.

Come to think of it, we still haven't found anyone here saying they
commonly carry a gun while riding. Well, except one person, a man who
said riding on a normal road cannot be safe, who is also afraid to walk
his residential neighborhood without a gun, and who is afraid to respond
to others who greet him on his segregated bike trail.

Such fear!
