I find it a bit silly they say 'no electronics'
Normally you would use 2 receivers with stearable antenna to do a 
cross bearing to the moonwalker's radio positions.
And then could do the processing in some computer in the lander 
and display all positions on a build into the helmets display.
Have all technicians left NASA?
It is ham radio stuff, fox hunt stuff.
