Last I heard the domain sockets were just an emulation, implemented in terms of loopback AF_INET sockets. The most annoying limitation of the implementation that I remember was that you had to define logical names in the system table to tell it what ports to use: $ define/system TCPIP$AF_UNIX_MIN_PORT 1000 $ define/system TCPIP$AF_UNIX_MAX_PORT 5000 SCM_RIGHTS _is_ defined in socket.h, but that may not mean much.
