I think that the reason behind bringing Lawson in is, as the main team's car is no longer as dominant (see you Adrian!) RBR need a better driver than Checo and they decided that Dan is no longer that driver. I think that this is an evaluation of Lawson to see if he's good enough to replace Checo next year. To do so he needs to convincingly out-perform Tsunoda for the rest of the year. So no pressure then. Also it's rumoured that if RBR didn't confirm him for a seat by the end of September his contract stated that he'd have been free to entertain offers from other teams. So instead of confirming him for next year they've thrown him in the deep end in true RBR style. Oh, and by the by, remember when we discussed whether McLaren should not have allowed Piastri past Norris for the win? The whisper on that is Piastri's manager, Mark "not bad for a number two driver" Webber, has a clause in Piastri's contract stating that Piastri will never be a number two. Also McLaren have (had?) a policy that whoever is leading after the first lap has preferential treatment for the rest of the race. Consequently McLaren couldn't really NOT tell Norris to let Piastri by. Further whispers say that maybe, since then (and for this season only) there's been an arrangement with Webber and Piastri that they'll now help Norris as he has a better chance of the WDC. (I dare say that, if this is true, concessions have been made in Piastri's favour for the future - or financial rewards will be in play for the rest of this season if Piastri is required to play number two.) -- Shaun.
