In general, emulators cannot determine in all cases the sector order of an image. However, other emulators make an effort to guess the sector order, and so they "work", and KEGS doesn't. The fix is easy. Rename SHAPE.MECHANIC1.dsk to SHAPE.MECHANIC1.po (same with any other image). Then it should work. This doesn't exactly match what you said, but it's likely the root of the problem.
