The Tom Cruise movies are let's get an actor shorter than me to play a giant. At least in the tv show, we start with a tall man and get him to bulk up so he's almost as large as Reacher. The first movie was adequate. I've seen the second. It made no impression on me. I recall nothing about it. Part of the reason he puts a team together is so he gets to work with a woman who (compared to other women but not him) is reasonably tough that he can sleep with. They skipped that in the movies. I've seen movies in which Cruise is part of an ensemble, so the decision clearly wasn't his.
