Fact Check: Brazilians can be fined for using VPN to access X

Brazilians using VPN to access Elon Musk's social media platform X
following a ban on the platform in the country can be fined, as of
Sept. 6, contrary to posts online suggesting a Supreme Court order
imposing the fine was rolled back.

Brazils telecommunication regulator took down X on Aug. 30 after the
platform failed to name a legal representative in Brazil and ignored a
deadline to comply with court orders. Supreme Court Justice Alexandre
de Moraes ordered that people accessing X using VPNs can be fined up
to 50,000 reais ($8,943.74) per day.
