Amazing that was legal 90Vrms with ~48Vdc talking battery OTOH, there was a single manufacturer and provider, way back when. It was a big deal when you could do your own wiring, provide your own equipment, etc. But, even HVAC wiring is 24Vac -- as "were" doorbell annunciators. [I suspect the "wired pushbutton" for garage door openers is now < 12V]
