YMMV, but if living in a city where mass transit would suffice, vehicle ownership may not be needed. In many US cities, mass transit is limited (or does not exist), so vehicle transport tends to be the norm. If mostly daily trips within a typical city, EV/Hybrid may be a good option. But for longer trips, ICE vehicles would be a better solution since charging stations are limited. EV battery cost has come down over the years, but if cheaper batteries become available, EVs will cost less than ICE vehicles. Typical buyers will gravitate towards EV ownership then.
