For John Larkin's definition of the left, which assumes that all
left-wingers want an authoritarian socialist - Soviet Communist style -
regime.

Most socialists know that this is bad idea - and Karl Marx got thrown
out of the International Socialist organisation in 1871 for endorsing it.

The "control everything" part is the problem. US big business has the
same kind of ambition, and the US was the first country to introduce
anti-trust legislation in an attempt to control. It clearly didn't go
far enough.

As Trump did when he tried to control the US response to the Covid-19
epidemic which probably a million more Americans than it would have done
under a better-informed regime.
