I have heard it said that, if the US President was elected by popular vote, it’s likely a Republican would never occupy the White House again. But then, that’s their own fault. Each time they lose an election, instead of trying to fix it by coming up with policies that appeal to a broader range of voters, currently their strategy seems to be to swing even further to the extreme right.
