As for a language requirement, I suspect there is a requirement for 
reasonable fluency in French or English; then again, that may be more 
wishful thinking than reality. They are not meeting their recruiting 
goals in recent years so may have lowered their standards, including in 
languages, to get more people. I remember reading that they are hoping 
to recruit more people that aren't yet citizens, which implies that 
there would be more recruits that aren't particular fluent in English or 
French given that our immigrants are from all over. However, each 
recruit needs to be vetted with respect to security and that takes a 
goodly while so some of them may be more fluent by the time they 
actually enter the CAF than they were when they applied.

Indeed! I'm sure they don't take a whole lot of crap from their people. 
Mind you, the PLA is notoriously corrupt so if you got into the PLA via 
connections, that may protect you from retribution for certain missteps. 
But I highly doubt they have any of this pronoun nonsense. I've never 
heard of China having even the slightest patience for any of that.
