That's exactly what the puritans (aka pilgrim's) on the Mayflower 
thought.  They weren't exactly successful.  The owners of the Mayflower 
sold passage to others who did not hold the same strict beliefs which 
caused much discourse.  They didn't adhere to the strict rules of the 
puritans, such as no work or play on Sunday.

Read a book about it.  That colony was rife with problems.
