Well, I took their offer and downloaded the Dorico cross-grade. I'm leery of it, however. It's still relatively new, so I don't know how robust it is in terms of being able to do the advanced non-traditional notation that's frequently found in film music. You may be able to produce a beautiful Chopin etude but can it do 'Sub-Level 3' from ALIENS: https://ibb.co/PWmQR8f Not sure. It also supposedly upends the entire paradigm of music notation software interface. There are oodles of YouTube tutorials but having to re-learn something so complicated from the ground up does not fill me with enthusiasm. The company I do this work for has already emailed me telling me to hold off because Dorico files aren't compatible with their systems.
