I read a few of his books in the past, but I didn't notice it.

"Michael Crichton's novel Rising Sun was adapted into a 1993 film that
featured an African-American character named Webster ("Webb") Smith,
played by Wesley Snipes. The character was originally Caucasian in the
novel."
