Yep, it's a remake, technically advertised as "a new adpatation of the 
novel", and has the usual added Political Correctness silliness - the 
geeky accountant in the original series was white and in the new series 
he's black. Quota tick!

"The Larkins" has some links with "Doctor Who". Actors Bradley Walsh 
and Peter Davison being the main two.
