Both evovles. One sometimes faster and sometimes slower than the other. And you can't tell this in advance so you'd arrange different treatments of their backing up apriori. So one's left with doing full backup of both, and it is time consuming, and yet cannot be donw only rarely. So this is a mess. I'm still in square one about it since 30 years ago :)
