The easiest way to cut calories is to forego simple carbohydrates.
You don't need them, and often they're just a grease sponge.  White
bread, white pasta (anything made from white flour), potatoes, white
rice, crackers like saltines, sweets, fruit juice.

And don't go nuts with fat.  Eating a stick of butter might be
low carb, but it's not good for anybody.
