Since "they" don't have a basis for comparison, "they" won't know just how boring their childhood presently is. On the other hand, is it any wonder why 'doom scrolling' on social media is the entertainment for much of the children growing up. When all the other 'fun' stuff is removed in the name of safety, doom scrolling on social media is about all (besides reading a book) that is left for them to entertain themselves with.
