I respected the fact that they initially sent it to a firearms museum 
and only destroyed it after the expert there determined that it wasn't 
of any historic interest.

I certainly don't endorse the wholesale disarming of the population 
though: that seems to make a government tyranny much more possible and 
harder to end.
