Hmm... > actually... ;) That is the major difference between the post war period I grew up in, and today, in terms of world-view and psychology. We understood the world to be a dangerous place, and food and personal hygiene were stressed, not antibiotics and socialised medicine. Also staying alert and being observant and quick thinking were typical 'boy scout' lessons. Road furniture was designed to raise situational awareness, not to dictate driving behaviour.
