Unlike with The Daleks in Colour which kept the basic story intact and
everything made sense lots of stuff from The War Games was cut out by
clueless modern editors with no attempt to abridge it and make it make
sense. New characters were popping out of nowhere with no explanation
who they were and what role they played in the plot.

It's better to read the novelization if you want to know what was
actually going on.

Apart from that it was a good story except for the needless modern
special effects which didn't fit in with the style of the original
effects and the knee jerking insertion of Citadel on Gallifrey from the
new series which looked totally out of place.

Unlike The Daleks in Colour the additional music mostly fitted in with
the time.

The DeepFake regeneration from Troughton to Pertwee didn't fit in either
and the stupidity of replacing the original faces the Doctor was offered
by the Time Lords with those of Capaldi, Tennant, Smith, and Whittaker
ruined it even further. Troughton saying "too young" in response to
being shown Whitaker's face made no sense as his reaction should have
been re-dubbed to "a woman, totally unheard of" in keeping with the times.

Whittaker can still be ignored as a PTSD triggered hallucination by
Capaldi before the 12th Doctor dies after being shot by the Cybermen,
since Doctor Who ended in 2017.

6/10 ruined by the modern special effects that didn't fit in with the
original blurry footage, too much material being cut out causing the
story keep suddenly jumping from place to place, the changes made to the
faces the Doctor was shown by the Time Lords, the images of the Citadel
from the Time War, and the fire coming from Troughton during the
DeepFake regeneration as if he were regenerating naturally when this was
supposed to be a forced change of appearance so should have been
administered by the Time Lords under laboratory controlled conditions.

The story should have just been colourized using the original footage
and effects and then it would have got an 8/10.
