I've been making my way through various movie groupings. On Monday I
watched Dragon movies:

Dragonslayer (4K disc) 1981 movie starring Peter MacNicol as a
sorcerer's apprentice who takes over his master's promise to battle a
dragon. This was a childhood favorite, but it's not as good as it was
when I was a kid. I think probably because when I was a kid I just
cared about the dragon, and now I also look at the plot. The disc has a
new commentary track with Matthew Robbins who writer and directed the
movie and Guillermo del Toro. At first I was confused why del Toro was
on the track, but it turns out Robbins has written several movies for
del Toro, and del Toro was geeking out on the track about how much of a
huge Dragonslayer fan he is.

Dragonheart (4K disc) 1996 movie starring Dennis Quaid who teams up with
a Dragon (voiced by Sean Connery) to run a con where the dragon flies
over a town then Quaid rides in and offers to rid the town of their
dragon problem for a fee. But the two end up having to stop their con
and fight an evil king by movie's end. OK, I guess. I know they made
umpteen sequels, but this was good enough for me.

Eragon (blu-ray) 2006 movie starring Ed Spellers as a young man who
finds a dragon's egg. The egg hatches and he has a magical bond with
his dragon. Which is a good thing because now everyone is counting on
him and his dragon to overthrow the evil king (John Malkovich). Jeremy
Irons costars as a good knight who trains Eragon (Speleers) and Robert
Carlyle serves as the king's evil magical enforcer and main villain. I
swear, Carlyle's evil character here was basically "Mr. Gold" with
different makeup. I really like this movie and I continued to be upset
the movie ended without any resolution so it could set up a sequel that
never got made.

Dragon Wars: D-War (blu-ray) 2007 movie with a vary convoluted plot.
But basically an evil sorcerer and his army are trying to take over the
world and they've got dragons. I think. Like I said, the plot is
convoluted, but the important thing is, this movie has dragons fighting
the modern military. And that's all I care about. I love that the FBI
has a supernatural task force that's up to speed on these types of
things, and knows exactly what needs to be done to handle it. And
unlike Reign of Fire (a movie I will never stop cursing), this movie
actually has attack copters vs. dragons.

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves (4K disc) 2023 movie based on
the board game. Chris Pine leads a cast of thieves who are trying to
steal treasure and rescue Pine's daughter from her evil adoptive father.
It's an OK movie, but I know others liked it a lot more than I did.
There's a scene in the movie where they briefly show characters from the
80s cartoon version. I grew up watching that cartoon and those were the
characters I wanted to follow. Hopefully some day someone will make
that version into a movie.
