Also IIRC sockets in windows arn't a simple file descriptor and can't be multiplexed, at least not with normal file descriptors so select() and poll() are essentially useless so IIRC you have to spawn a thread or use windows message or some such overcomplicated nonsense to wait on them. Hopeless.
