I watched:

Dexter: Original Sin Ep 105 and
Dexter: Original Sin Ep 106

I think they've done a good job of capturing the spirit of the original
series. The younger versions of Dexter, Deb, Harry and the other
characters we knew from the original series are doing well. Keeping the
original opening sequence (although performed by the younger characters)
and the original music cues and, of course, Michael Hall doing the
voiceover all contribute to the feeling of familiarity. Of course most
of the writers are the same too so none of this is too surprising.

I suppose the biggest long-term challenge is doing enough new and
interesting stuff to make it really engaging and not just a trip down
memory lane. They're definitely thinking about that because they
actually have Dexter articulate that it is the killing that is the big
thrill for him. We also meet Harry's wife - and Deb's mother - who I
don't remember meeting before and we see Harry's affair with Dexter's
mom. I don't remember that getting much coverage in the original series
either.

Animal Control Ep 302

Just a harmless little sitcom. A pleasant diversion.

Going Dutch Ep 102

Denis O'Leary as a hardass military man is not something I expected to
see but he gives it a go. I'm assuming the show is intended as a farce;
I've never heard of something like a "service base" and even if such
places exist, I find it unlikely that they'd be as lax as the one in the
show. As usual, this is basically about poking fun at O'Leary's
character for taking himself way too seriously. IMDB rates this at 5.1
and the featured review rates it a 2 and predicts that it will be
cancelled soon. I'm strongly tempted to concur. This is NOT Rescue Me,
which was much better.

The Pitt Ep 101 and
The Pitt Ep 102

I know this series is having some legal challenges with accusations that
it is an ER reboot that doesn't acknowledge Michael Crichton. I can
certainly see the similarities, even if Noah Wyle's character is named
Dr. "Robby" Robinavitch and not Dr. Carter. He really reminds me of
Carter by the final seasons of ER: a guy who has seen it all and knows
how to handle any situation. This ER is even more packed that the one in
the original show and that reminds me of Code Black, another series I
liked but that died too soon. There is a huge ensemble cast and it's the
traditional combination of very experienced veterans and young rookies.
The first two episodes give us a little bit about each character, enough
to start to distinguish them to some extent and make us curious about
their back stories. The tensions between the veterans also raise some
curiousity about what's going on there. The vast majority of the cast is
new to me but they are doing a good job so far. The writing is fine so far.

I really enjoyed both episodes so I'll be staying with it to see what
happens next. I think it deserves the 8.0 on IMDB.
