Scott chose the sea war rather than the land war.  No win in the sea 
war, no chance in the land war.

If we choose the other path, the story that Blucher felt he was pregnant 
with an elephant could provide the basis for an SF character.

And Wellington's burning violin could be a good image for an Iain Banks 
kind of writer.
