That was what my observation is, which is that Brand X will have a cross
reference specific only for Brand X spark plugs.

That is, there is no "real" cross reference that I know of for spark plugs.

What I find strange is that this one thing everyone wants, doesn't exist.

All I can find are companies claiming that a given list of other spark plug
model numbers fits their particular spark plug brand and model number.
